Casillero del Diablo Merlot (2008)

Wine tasting 6

I would not buy this wine if I had 70SEK to spend, just because there's nothing special about it. There's a lot more available in this price range that's better quality. Have a look at other wines we've tasted in the 70 - 80SEK price range. If you want another wine from this producer, try the Cabernet Sauvignon, much better, and scored 3 1/2 stars during the 4th wine tasting.

Panel's rating: 2,65 out of 5

Country: Chilé
Grape: 100% Merlot
Price: 70SEK

Colour: Dark, blue red colour.

Nose: Fruity aroma with barrel character, hints of plums, vanilla, grass and liquorice. Fruit-forward with distinct blackberry and plum notes, and delicate traces of vanilla and toast. Very well-integrated wood.

Taste: Very fruity wine with barrel character, hints of plums, liquorice and vanilla. Smooth, good body. Balanced, ripe tannins and a delicious long finish.

Terreno Chianti Clissico (2006)

Wine tasting 4

I'm not a fan of Chianti yet, but what I've heard is that you need to watch out what you buy, because as good as this wine can be, just so can it be really terrible. I'm also surprised when we don't finish all the wine in one night, and this wine was one that was left. I had it again the next day and it was as if I was drinking a different wine. This means that the wine does not want anything complex around it, perhaps just by itself or with a simple dish. I would decant the bottle in the future, because the wine seems to need a lot of air for it to settle down properly.

Panel's rating: 2,56 out of 5

Price: 89SEK
Country: Italy
Grape: 90% Sangiovese, 10% Canaiolo

Colour: Dark colour, red blue

Nose: Spicy, fruity aroma with hints of barrel, cherry, chocolate and herbs

Chateau de Seguin Grand Vin Bordeaux (2007)

Wine tasting 2

I've written about this wine before (Read here), when I had it at a new years party with some excellent cheese. I was very impressed then and vowed to buy it again. However the second time around it was not the same story. It only scored 2,6 out of 5, which shows that not everyone loved this wine. It lacked character and tasted weak. Perhaps I'll buy it again and judge it a third time with a good meal, just to be fair.
