When my wife told me she wanted to spend the weekends on a wine tasting tour, I was not very happy. Thought it was so boring. But when we arrived in Adelaide, I got excited since the view was amazing! The place was romantic, the food was great and the wine tingled my palate. We toured the wine region riding on a luxury mini-coach and visited 5 wineries. A perfect weekend for me and my lovely wife.

Just tried a bottle from 2008 and loved it! Typically we drink a Mouton Cadet but this is on the same level or better! Bought it for $10 and the Mouton Cadet we buy usually between $8-$10. I am going back today to buy a case! Nice body in the mouth with a little something once swallowed. Husband if from France, I'm from the US. We totally agree for once!

I was just back in South Africa for a few weeks, and heard a cellar master give advise to a client who wants to store some wine, and it's basically this. A dark place. The temperature is not of utmost importance, if it is constant, but around 16-18 degrees Celsius is good. If it's against a wall, make sure that wall is not an outside wall, as they tend to vary in temperature as the sun goes up and down in the day time, so choose a wall that is an inner wall. Other than that, 3 months is not so long so you should be OK.

I had the priviledge of visiting KWV Winery in May 2010 and tasted this wine. Prior to going to the Winery, I was never a big fan of wines; Now I know what real pinotage tastes like, I can't imagine drinking any other wine. I was told by a US wine shop owner that pinotage doesn't sell. Obviously, no one has tried to sell the good stuff. Cafe Culture is the best of the best, with Simonsig Pinotage coming in a close second. If the wine distributers would get the right wines, then they would sell. I guess wine shop owners are still virgins to the world of pinotage. Too bad for US wine enthusiests.

Here in Sweden it's not possible to store wine for a long time indoors, as we do in South Africa. So it's a shame that we can't age the Allesverloren Cabernet Sauvignon 5-8 years, because then, in my opinion, the magic happens.

I agree, one critic is not worth while, that's why we opt for a panel of 8 or more people. Having said that, wine tasting is very subjective and you should always use the opinion of a wine critic just as a rough guide.

yeah, smells better than it tastes but easily drunk and not anything bad but too bad it doesn't offer more in the way of the cherry scent. anyways, you can do much worse and at the very least it is a cheap bordeaux at its finest and that would be a nice red with no tannins and even with not much flavor, it still offers a little bit of complexity if that makes any sense.

I really know what you mean! I'm in Canada and discovered Pinotage in 1998. It fast became my favourite red too because of the strong personality, unlike any other red. Well, soon enough all the modernist complainers started wailing, and nowadays all the Pinotages we get here are softened-down and politically correct. I lament the loss of the old style wines.

I think having produced such a warm and interesting wine whilst making no concessions on eco-credentials is impressive.

Maybe one critics experience is not necessarily worth listening to in isolation.

Well actually I've just drunk a 2003: none of the metal or bitterness, and certainly not sweet, but rather smooth and delicate and nuanced. For the quality for money I'd certainly push it up the ratings. Perhaps you should leave a Corbieres to mellow a bit?

Probably the best sparkling wine for this budget (in Russia it is a bit more expensive than in Sweden, but still quite reasonable). Can't really make a choice between Pongracz and some generic Moet Chandon/Piper Heidseick Chamapagne bottle, but much more affordable.

I was in Cape Town summer 2008 and stumbled upon Allesverloren's Shiraz while dinning out. I enjoyed it so much I wanted to try their other wines. I fell in love with their cabernet and drove up to visit the vineyard. That's where I tasted the tinta for the first time. Excellent! I'm going back to South Africa in a week. And Allesverloren is a big reason why.
